Welps people, I have been up and down and all around.... Been busy travelling and busy with school, and here is some of what I have to show for it!
Also, here are some pictures of my trip to the USA!
It's soooooo pretty :)
So I saw this commercial today that made me rather upset. It was an ad for pads, ya know.. the one women wear during their period... not paper pads or anything :P Anyhow, the commercial went something like this...
"My favorite thing on a woman is her cheeks"
"Beauty comes from the inside"
GET REAL!
We all know what men really care about!
-show woman walking around, camera on her ass-
then it goes on to explain the perks of the pad they are trying to sell.
Ugh. Advertisements can be so fucking stupid sometimes....
NEVER trust that early morning sun.
Damn thing tricked everyone into thinking that it would be a bit warmer today. So everyone was in light jackets. And then... the temperature drastically drops to 45F/7C. Add some wind to that. And the fact no one had on enough layers. And the no heater thing in any building. ARG.
Tomorrow I'm wearing a snowsuit, just in case :P
So I know I am a little late... and I had heard of this insanity ages ago, but just now I decided to look into it. Thank you, You Tube for once again making my life all that much brighter. :P I find the funniest things there... and I ran across this one video... but first, can some explain me how this happened?? -points to italics-
GERMANS, HOW COME YOU LOVED DAVID HASSELHOFF SO MUCH? EXPLAIN YOURSELVES!
"In Germany, his song became an anthem of sorts at the time, and the album went gold and triple platinum, topping the charts for three months whilst the single managed a mere eight weeks. He was later announced as the best selling artist of 1989 in Germany even prompting the newspaper headline "Hasselhoff: not since the Beatles." Since then another six of his albums have gone platinum in Europe."
How could this man be that popular? It was the comedy factor, right? It has to be. I mean come on, look at this:
Last Thursday I went to this club called Trash 80's because we had to do a short piece for it, for a talk-show we have to do for one of my classes. Well, it got me all re-hooked on the 80s. I have always loved the music, I have so much of old 80s stuff on my MP3 player... but I hadn't heard it in a while, since I was going through a country music phase. Well, now that is over and it's back to the 80s... with a little extra loving for New Kids on the Block. Oh lordie o_O
Aside from that, not much else going on here, really. Just college and job hunting, as well as tutoring, since I finally found someone who wants class! Now... back to what I was doing... reading things for class and sending out resumès!
EDIT: Just a little something something to make y'all smile:
When was the last time you had to speak in front of a group? How did you feel?
Last time I had to speak in front of a group was... during Connectivity. During the conference I was on stage all the time... every morning because it was mandatory, and then sometimes during certain events, when I would be doing simultaneous translation for ceremonies and what not. But the last time was during the closing ceremony I think, when I had to recite a poem that I wrote together with another guy, but that was kinda cool because it was kinda funky... it was sort of a performance, and it involved dance and hip hop and poetry, and it was just plain fun :) Made me a bit nervous because we didn't have much time to prepare (we were asked to do that kinda last minute) but it turned out great and everybody loved it! :)
Hello! So here is a recording of the Connectivity 2006 - From Thinking to Action song. It was specially written for the conference. It's pretty nifty :) The recording is not super clear, because it was made during a live performance of the song, but it is pretty nice anyways.
We sang this song both at the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as every morning before daily announcements, as part of the daily opening ritual. It was always nice to be upstage and seeing all those people joining in :) It was always led by "us" (the people in the organization committee, which I belonged to).
The lyrics are as follows:
We come to this world, naked and pure
Trying to shape identity.
One thing in common, rich and poor,
Fighting to be free.
We're in this together, this thing called life.
We're in this together, let's connect and unite.
Yum dum dideli do deya
Yum dum dideli do da
Different cultures,
Different names,
Let's put ourselves in action
Every thought, every step
Creates reflection
We're in this together, this thing called life.
We're in this together, let's connect and unite.
Yum dum dideli do deya
Yum dum dideli do da
So this is on my LJ as well, but I am very very very very very very happy! We got 4th place in the 4th Brazilian Yosakoi Soran Festival :) WAAAAAAAAH!!!!! YAAAAAY! YEEEEES! Ok. I'm done now.
And to celebrate, here are some pictures:
EDIT : Ok people, there are more pics being added, so I just put them all under a collection, so click that pic to check them out, aight? :)
When you were younger, were there any game shows that you religiously watched and wanted to be a contestant on?
Oh... my...Lordie. Yes. When I was little I used to want to be on this one game show called "Passa ou Repassa". It was a game show in which the contestants were from two different schools, and they would have to hit a buzzer to answer general knowledge questions. If the team who buzzed in got the answer wrong, or hesitated for too long, the other team got to throw a cream pie on the person who made the mistake. The question rounds were alternated with "gincanas" in which the teams would have to get points for doing certain tasks, like an obstacle course or target practice or some other sort of physical challenge. Then in the end, there would be the monster obstacle course, that took about 3 or 4 minutes to complete, and the team who did the best time would usually win because it was worth enough that it could turn the score around. It was like Knowledge Bowl mixed with sports, and I used to dream of being old enough to sign up for it. Unfortunately, it was cancelled before I ever got the change :( Oh well. At least we had similar things at my school, which helped make up for it!
EDIT AT 8PM: Does Legends of the Hidden Temple count as a game show too? That is the other one I would have liked to be in as well.
